George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has given young people in Nigeria the reassurance that President Bola Tinubu values them and that his administration is committed to maximising their potential for the advancement of the country.
When a high-level delegation from the Afro-Arab Youth Council (AAYC) made him a courtesy call at his office, under the direction of its secretary-general, Dr. Abbas Agaba, SGF provided the promise.
The president’s interest in youth is paramount, as evidenced by the appointment of young people to important positions of authority, according to a statement made by Segun Imohiosen, director of information in his office. Akume further stated that the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is youth-centric.
Akume thanked the council for designating a Nigerian as its regional coordinator in West Africa and urged them to carry on their commendable efforts to further the interests of young people throughout the continent.
Prior to this, Ayodele Olawande, the minister of state for youth development, praised President Tinubu for giving young people a voice in the Renewed Hope Agenda and promised to support him in realising his vision for a better Nigeria.
The AAYC has expressed interest in expanding its borders to include Nigeria, he continued.
He said that the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and the Ministry of Youth Development are working together to ratify it, and all proper procedures are being followed.
Additionally, Dr. Abbas Agaba, secretary-general of the Afro-Arab Youth Council (AAYC), expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for creating an atmosphere that encourages youth participation in governance through the selection of his cabinet members.
According to Agaba, Nigeria’s prominence in Africa is the basis for the decision to appoint a Nigerian to lead the Council in the West African subregion.
Along with thanking Nigerians for confirming Comrade Akoshile Mukhtar as the organization’s regional coordinator in West Africa, he also made an appeal to the government to grant him the office’s necessary supplies so he could do his duties efficiently.
The awarding of the Afro-Arab Youth Council’s Custodian to President Tinubu and the presenting of its periodicals to the SGF were two of the visit’s highlights.
An international youth organisation called the Afro-Arab Youth Council (AAYC) strives to bring the goals and plans of the Arab League and the African Union (AU) to fruition.
