Globacom, a provider of digital solutions, has announced that it would once more be collaborating with the Ojude Oba festival organisers this year, carrying on a partnership it established eighteen years ago.
At the pre-event news conference, Globacom’s representative, Mr. Kazeem Kaka, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to promoting Nigeria’s rich cultural legacy at Awujale’s Palace in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state.
As an indigenous business, we want to associate with the customs and cultures of the Nigerian people through our festival sponsorship. Therefore, the goal of our participation in the Ojude Oba festival celebration is to raise awareness of the distinctive customs and tradition of the Ijebu people, according to Kaka.
According to Kaka, Globacom’s partnership with the festival’s organisers demonstrates the company’s dedication to the rich national legacy that is externalised through these celebrations.
“It is our belief that our continued support for Ojude Oba will further strengthen the festival and entrench it as a world class carnival which will attract even more tourists from across the world. We are convinced that this partnership will further foster a symbiotic relationship with immense benefits for both Globacom and Ijebuland”, he added.
Chief Olu Okuboyejo, the chairman of the Ojude Oba Planning Committee, praised Globacom for providing overwhelming support for the event, pointing out that it serves as a reminder of the Ijebu people’s ancient roots.
The festival’s 2024 theme, “Unity and Harmony in Ijebuland…The gift of Ojude Oba,” marks the 18th year that Globacom has collaborated with the Ojude Oba Planning Committee as the event’s primary sponsor.
Every year, Ojude Oba is observed two days following the Islamic Eid El-Kabir celebration. It is a social event when various concerns impacting the Ijebu people’s life are discussed. It serves as a pillar for the social, political, and economic advancement of the neighbourhood.
