As stated in the Security and Governance pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, committed his administration to safeguarding the lives and property of the people of Lagos State. On Thursday, he officially opened the recently built Police Area “M” Command (Phase III & IV), located in Idimu, Lagos.

The commissioning of the Police Station Lecture Hall, Hostel Blocks, Canteen, and Commandant’s Quarters is not only remarkable but also attests to the commitment of the current administration to ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties in the State, as stated by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin.

“The fact that our administration has such faith in the police, who keep watch over us all while we sleep, is demonstrated by this bouquet of infrastructure for the police. As the commercial hub of Nigeria and even Africa, Lagos State is becoming bigger, safer, and more secure. The State Government is aware of the effects that insecurity has on people’s lives, property, businesses, and the economy, which is why it is carefully implementing a number of strategies, such as building, wealth creation, employment trust funds, agricultural programmes, and skill development”, said the Gov.

In addition to emphasising the need for cooperation between the police and the public to reduce crime, Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the residents of the Idimu community to work in tandem with the police to support and bolster environmental security and guarantee the achievement of the goals that led to the building and furnishing of this police station. He continued by saying that his administration is working nonstop to make sure that there is no crime, a clean environment, or any other social vices in the State.

IGP Egbetokun Kayode thanked the Lagos State Ministry of Justice and the State Government for their dedication to upholding stability, law, and order in the State and gave assurances to them that the infrastructure installed in Idimu would be well utilised.

In a separate speech, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, expressed his profound gratitude to Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, for his steadfast support of maintaining law and order in the state and for improving infrastructure development in the justice administration.

Beyond providing a comfortable work environment, the Attorney-General pointed out that the building is intended to strengthen community policing, promoting a closer bond between law enforcement and Idimu citizens as the State tackles security issues to create a more secure and peaceful community.

“Let’s keep collaborating to create a state where each citizen’s rights, security, and safety are fiercely guarded,” he declared.

Members of the Lagos House of Assembly, traditional rulers, religious leaders, party leaders, Chairman Idimu LCDA, directors of the Ministry of Justice, and Idimu residents are among the dignitaries in attendance at the event.
