Every week, Lagosmag seeks to understand how people survive their way of living in Lagos, Nigeria. Some stories will be struggle-ish, others will be bougie. All the time, it’ll be revealing.

Great to have you here, Oga Property! So, tell us, how has Lagos been treating you as a manager in the realty industry?

Lagos is a land of abundant opportunities, my friend. It took me some time to venture into the real estate business, but Lagos has shown me that every problem has a silver lining. They are building houses like there’s no tomorrow in this city.

Haha, indeed they are! What’s your favorite thing about working in the realty industry in Lagos?

My favorite thing about the realty industry is the excitement that comes with it. Lagosians have a strong desire for homes, and they will do anything to find their dream property. As a manager, it’s like connecting customers with the perfect home, like matching Jollof rice with chicken.

Love the analogy, Oga Property! What are some of the challenges you face as a manager in the realty industry?

It can be quite tricky, my dear! In Lagos, everyone wants a beautiful house, but not everyone wants to spend money. Some customers expect a mansion on a shoestring budget. So, managing expectations effectively becomes the challenge.

Hahaha, managing expectations can be tough indeed! What advice would you give to someone who wants to work in the realty industry in Lagos?

My advice is to work hard and be adaptable, my friend. Lagos is a place where you can sell sand to someone who has a beach. Embrace the hustle and always be ready to negotiate like a true Lagosian.

Wise words, Oga Property. How do you stay motivated in your work, considering the ups and downs of the realty industry?

Motivation comes from within, no doubt about that. But sometimes, when things get tough in this business, I blast some Afrobeat music in the office. The vibes energize me, and it reminds me that only the strong survive in Lagos.

What’s one lesson you’ve learned from your experience as a manager in the realty industry?

One valuable lesson I’ve learned is that trust and reputation are everything in this business. Lagos is not an easy place, and if people don’t trust you, they won’t do business with you. So, integrity must be the foundation of your work.

Absolutely, Oga Property! Now, what motivates you to wake up every day and continue serving your clients in the realty industry?

My motivation comes from the joy I see on people’s faces when they finally find their dream home. The smile they give me when they say, “Oga Property, you’re the real deal!” It makes all the challenges worth it.

That’s beautiful! Alright, last question. What message would you like to share with the people of Lagos regarding the importance of investing in real estate?

My message to the people of Lagos is simple: Invest wisely. Land and property are assets that can secure your future. You can’t eat your fill every day; it’s important to save for tomorrow. Buy property now, so you can relax later like Lagos traffic!

Hahaha, love that! Thank you, Oga Property, for sharing your experience and insights with us. Keep being the real deal in the realty industry. Lagos will always be proud of you!
