The World Food Programme (WFP) of the United Nations stated on Thursday that the Ukrainian government has donated 25,000 tons of wheat, which would help 1.3 million people affected by the crisis in northeast Nigeria get emergency food assistance.

Part of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s humanitarian “Grain from Ukraine” program, this crucial donation comes at a time when basic meals are becoming increasingly unaffordable for millions of disadvantaged families in Nigeria due to rising staple food costs.

The UK, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Luxembourg, Norway, the Republic of Korea, and Sweden worked together to help cover the costs of shipping the wheat from Ukraine to Nigeria and distributing it to the families who so desperately needed it. This cooperation made the shipment possible.
