Love for Afrobeats, Burna Boy, and rising South African artist Tyla have all been acknowledged by Colombian singer Shakira.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer said that she is an enormous lover of African music in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.
Shakira characterised her musical preferences as genuine, honest, and varied.
“Eclectic, honest, and real would be my three-word description of my musical tastes,” she stated.
Anything Afrobeats is my jam. I enjoy everything Afrobeats, Burna Boy, and Tyla. However, I adore Burna dearly.
In order to create her official song for the 2010 South Africa World Cup, “Waka, Waka (This Time For Africa),” Shakira sampled the African song “Zangaléwa” by the Cameroonian band Golden Sounds.
