Media personality and talk show host, Chinedu Ani, widely known as Nedu Wazobia, has spoken out regarding the controversy surrounding his departure from The Honest Bunch podcast.

During a press briefing in Lagos on Thursday, Nedu clarified that he was not dismissed but voluntarily stepped down due to the growing tension and public backlash. He emphasized that while people were entitled to their opinions, the narrative ultimately depended on public perception.

“Instead of engaging in unnecessary disputes, I have chosen to step away to clear the air,” he stated.

Responding to claims that he was the root of conflicts on the show, Nedu explained that his role was to provoke thought-provoking discussions.

“My job on the podcast was to play the ‘devil’s advocate’, to ask the tough questions that spark debate. I ensured guests felt comfortable enough to open up,” he said.

The controversy began when comedian and reality star DeeOne alleged on the show that social media critic, VeryDarkMan (VDM), was involved in intimate relationships with men. In response, VDM accused Nedu of orchestrating the claims and leaking their private conversations. He also accused the media personality of sexual exploitation, alleging that Nedu had used their personal discussions against him.

Amid the controversy, Nedu announced his resignation from The Honest Bunch on February 14. However, speculations arose that he was forced out due to the backlash.

Setting the record straight, Nedu stressed that he was stepping away from hosting duties to maintain his integrity and avoid further conflicts.

In an unexpected revelation, he declared that he would no longer make himself accessible to the public.

“Honestly, I’m done being nice. My kindness has been taken for granted, and people I considered friends have used me. I’m exhausted from being taken advantage of,” he declared.

“If you have my number, kindly delete it. I no longer want to be reachable or accessible. I need to focus on my well-being. The ‘nice’ Nedu is gone for good.”

Meanwhile, Nedu’s management team strongly condemned the accusations and public attacks against him.

“The allegations against Nedu have gone beyond mere gossip; they have crossed the line into character assassination,” the team stated.

“Legal action will be taken against those spreading false accusations, and necessary steps will be pursued to protect his reputation.”
