Nigerian Rapper OdumoduBlvck claims he is capable of performing classic hip-hop like American artist Eminem, but he declined since Nigerians “don’t understand” the genre.

He claims that melodious music is the only genre that Nigerians enjoy, thus in order to make his songs more financially successful, he “dumbed it down.”

OdumoduBlvck recently stated in a podcast interview that he aspires to make Nigerian rap “exciting,” much as Wizkid did with R&B in the nation.

He declared, “Some Nigerians performed only pure rap; they failed to create an engaging enough sound to draw listeners in.

“Someone mentioned that my rap sounds like nursery rhymes. You don’t need to second-guess yourself because I simplified it so I could sell these records. If you can comprehend the terminology, you’ll get it once you listen to my rap. There’s no need to consult a dictionary.

The rap isn’t hard core. It’s simple. I added excitement to it. Like Wizkid, I want to have an exciting and sweet rap style.

Rap that isn’t hard core. It’s simple. I added excitement to it. Like Wizkid, I want to have an exciting and sweet rap style.

“I can rap like Eminem and these other guys, but nobody is going to listen to that stuff where I come from, bro.” They’re not aware of it.
