In the face of growing whispers, those who should know have revealed why the billionaire who is the Secretary to the State Government of Ogun (SSG), Tokunbo Talabi won’t be the next Governor.

And it is not because he is not competent. It is widely acknowledged that the SSG personifies the unraveling blueprint of the Dapo Abiodun administration.

“Talabi may be great as a potential governor but zoning has ruled him out of contention. He is from Ogun East and Governor Abiodun who is on his second term is also from Ogun East. And they are both members of the same All Progressives Congress. It is an irrefutable political tradition in Ogun state that the gubernatorial seat goes to another zone” according to those in the know.

Added digs revealed that by logic, Ogun West is next in line to produce the next Governor with the low-vote area of Yewa favored by morality.

However, the information at hand revealed that political players in Ogun Central are already gearing up to produce Abiodun’s successor working hand in glove with collaborators in Ogun East.

“Ogun East and Ogun Central have been producing the state Governors because of the advantage of the large votes in their areas and penchant for always backing one another while Ogun West, particularly Yewa find it hard to produce a united front” added information revealed.

The SSG dogged with the emerging whisper of the “next governor” is a known investor in strategic sectors such as agro-allied, steel, manufacturing, logistics, real estate, and telecommunications before was “prevailed on” to join Abiodun’s government.

Topping the list of contenders to become Governor Abiodun’s successor in 2027 in the APC are Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola from Ogun West popularly known as Yayi, former Minister Sharafa Ishola from Ogun Central and friend of President Bola Tinubu and Minister for Finance Wale Edun from Ogun Central.

Added to the mix are former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives Dimeji Bankole from Ogun Central and Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele from Ogun West.
