The NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, was recently visited by the DSVA Sensitization Team, as part of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency’s (DSVA) ongoing 16 Days of Activism Campaign expansion efforts.

The goal of the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) campaign at the NYSC Orientation Camp, according to DSVA Executive Secretary Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi’s speech at the event, is to educate and raise awareness among corps members about the prevalence and effects of SGBV.

This initiative, according to Vivour-Adeniyi, is intended to raise awareness among corps members about the prevalence of SGBV and provide them with the knowledge and resources they need to prevent and address occurrences of SGBV within the camp community. She made this statement through Mrs Oluwakemi Bello, Head of Fields Operation, DSVA.

She clarified that an act of gender-based violence is one that targets a person because of their gender and disclosed that the State has zero tolerance for any kind of sexual or gender-based violence. The Executive Secretary went on to say that since ignorance is never a defence in court, anyone found guilty of the act will be subject to the full force of the law.

She emphasised that everyone must contribute to ending the threat and emphasised the necessity for corp members to assume the mandated reporter role in order to guarantee that those responsible for crimes are held responsible and that survivors receive the necessary support services.

Similar to this, as part of its ongoing education and awareness campaign on the 16 Days of Activism on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence against Women and Girls, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) recently organised a Walk in Epe.

The agency is supporting the global movement for the annual event, according to DSVA Executive Secretary Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi. She also mentioned that the agency organised a 16 Days of Activism campaign with the theme “Women Arise, Light Up Campaign” in collaboration with UNFPA to educate vendors at the Ayetoro Market in Epe.
