To ensure maximum yield among farmers in the state, the Lagos State government, in collaboration with C40 Cities, has implemented measures to improve optimal crop production and the useful application of compost manure.

The state is giving organic waste management extra attention, according to Gaji Tajudeen, Permanent Secretary, Office of Environmental Services, who was speaking at a workshop on Stakeholders’ Readiness Analysis and Organic Waste Mapping at the LAWMA Waste to Wealth facility in Ikorodu.

Tajudeen, accompanied by Mrs. Azeezat Afinowi-Subair, Head of the Ministry’s Climate Change Unit, indicated that the reason is not implausible but rather due to its great potential for global warming.

He applauded the C40 cities for working with the State government to guarantee that organic waste is turned into useful goods like biogas and organic compost.

According to the Lagos emissions inventory, the waste industry is the second largest source of greenhouse gas emissions, which is why it is being given priority.

The Urban Climate Action Programme is a program that C40 is supporting the implementation of climate action in seven African cities, including Lagos, as stated by Mr. Maximus Ugwuoke, the Lagos C40 City Adviser.
