In order to address the issue of building collapse, which is frequently brought on by subpar construction and unethical behaviour, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on the assistance of artisans.

Governor Sanwoolu posed the challenge at a stakeholders’ gathering in Oregun, Lagos, hosted by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) for all craftspeople working in the built environment. The event’s theme was “Achieving Building Compliance: A Task for All Stakeholders.”

The involvement, according to Sanwo-Olu, was crucial because artisans were significant players who could stop violations at the site.

The governor, through Dr. Babatunde Olajide, Special Adviser, e-GIS, called for cooperation in the fight against environmental violations that result in flooding.

He also urged the artisans to respect established authorities and follow established protocols, asking them not to certify trainees who had not finished training to be eligible for practise.

The governor advised them to avoid projects without permission, but he also said they should stay away from projects that were approved but not under LASBCA officials’ supervision.
