In a press address, the Lagos State Governor reflected on the devastating events of the 2020 EndSARS protests, which began peacefully but were hijacked, resulting in widespread destruction and loss.
The Governor emphasized that such history will not repeat itself, citing the immense damage to properties and institutions, including the Lagos High Court, police stations, Local Government offices, Fire Stations, and the Forensic Centre.
The Governor stressed the importance of maintaining peace and stability, warning that economic destabilization can lead to poverty. He urged citizens to unite, embrace dialogue, and work towards a peaceful and prosperous Lagos.
To ensure safe and peaceful expression, the Police have designated Gani Fawehinmi Park and Peace Park for protests, which will be secured to protect citizens and prevent chaos.
The Governor concluded by emphasizing the importance of unity, peace, and stability for a prosperous Lagos, saying, “Our strength lies in our unity, and our future depends on maintaining peace and stability. God bless Lagos State. God bless Nigeria.”
