The growing number of attacks on agency employees while they are on duty has been denounced by Arch. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).

During a routine surveillance exercise along Musical Village, Awolowo Road, Ikorodu Area of Lagos, a hoodlum armed with hazardous weapons and charms attacked some of the organization’s personnel. Arch Oki expressed his unhappiness in his Ikeja Office on Wednesday.

He stated that the agency’s mission to guarantee safe and secure buildings throughout the State will not be compromised by any amount of coercion or harassment. “These assailants not only obstruct our staff but also hold them hostage for hours, these acts of hooliganism will not deter us from carrying out our duties” , he added.

“Thank goodness, we were able to repel these attacks and no one was hurt.” Because to their tenacity and promptness, our employees have been able to subdue the attackers and avert more serious outcomes. We deal with obstacles like this on a regular basis in our effort to guarantee that State structures are secure and suitable for rehabilitation.

As a result, Arch. Oki urged the public to assist LASBCA in its efforts to stop the threat of building collapses throughout the state, pointing out that instances of harassment and attacks frequently compromise Agency surveillance operations and may even present serious risks to public safety.

In spite of threats and attacks, Oki reiterated the agency’s commitment to upholding and enforcing construction standards in Lagos State and asked the populace to work together to ensure the integrity and safety of structures that will promote a secure environment for everyone.

He made the point that security personnel have now received custody of the attacker so they can prosecute them.
