The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) is promoting participation in its new Certified Accreditors’ Programme (CAP) among certified built-environment consultants.

This was stated in a statement made in Lagos yesterday by Mr. Olusegun Olaoye, the director of LASBCA’s Public Affairs Unit.

In response to the request for expressions of interest, Mr. Gbolahan Oki, general manager of LASBCA, stated that the state planned to hire consultants to serve as qualified accreditors and help with the inspection, review, and compliance monitoring of building plans.

According to him, the program’s goal is to use the experience of the private sector to boost productivity and guarantee that every building in the state complies with safety regulations.

“The Certified Accreditors Programme” (CAP), a public-private partnership, aims to capitalise on the unique knowledge and experience of experts in the private sector.

In order to fulfil its operational missions of guaranteeing that all new and existing structures in Lagos State are constructed to fit human habitation and prevent the incidence of building collapses, it also sought to further accelerate LASBCA’s efficacy towards optimum service delivery.

According to Oki, the plan supported the objectives of sustainable urban development set forth by the state government.

He states that the program’s objective is to strengthen LASBCA’s capacity to guarantee that both new and old buildings adhere to rules and are secure for occupancy.

He declared that consultants with appropriate Nigerian registration, suitable experience, and membership in professional associations will be taken into consideration by the state administration.

As a result, he encouraged interested members of the public to get an Expression of Interest (EOI) form from the LASBCA main office.

He claims that submitting the EOI form is subject to a cost.

He clarified that completing an EOI form did not ensure acceptance into the programme.

He specified July 31 as the form’s submission deadline.
