The team from the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget’s Social Protection Department, headed by Mrs. Oluwakemi Adedeji, was hosted today by Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, General Manager of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs.

The LASODA General Manager welcomed the crew to her office and emphasized that the department must collaborate closely with the Agency to ensure that the social protection objectives are met.

She stated that LASODA has implemented programs to advance the cause of people with disabilities and that the agency has carried out a number of interventions in accordance with the Lagos State Social Protection policy.

The LASODA Boss emphasized that policies and programs must be coordinated to address the concerns raised by PWDs’ distinct demands, the degree of their disabilities, and the difficulties in meeting those needs.

“The kind of services to be provided to individuals with disabilities is determined by the severity of their disability,” the speaker stated. “A dwarf may appear normal on the outside, but their structure frequently needs special consideration to ensure that excessive pressure is not placed on their waist, which could result in serious complications.”

She continued, “We are working to digitize our data and will make sure we collaborate with the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget in accordance with the numerous measures already mentioned.”

In her earlier remarks, Mrs. Oluwakemi Adedeji, the team lead from the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, asked LASODA to make sure that all of its programs are made to support inclusive societies and the social protection of all people with disabilities, regardless of their status.

“It is our responsibility to make sure that all MDAs are in compliance with Lagos State’s social protection policy,” she stated. In order to ensure that every vulnerable member of society, whether they live in Epe or somewhere else, may benefit from government protection and care, we would like to know the exact amount of social protection that the state government has accomplished.

“The general welfare of individuals with disabilities is your office’s primary concern, and you must make sure that your programs answer their strategic needs.

She went on to explain that social protection is a combination of policies and programs created throughout an individual’s life cycle to help enhance their standard of living and give vulnerable people of society a life of dignity. This is a crucial strategy for eliminating poverty.

The team head went on to say that Social Assistance, Social Care, Social Insurance, Labor Market Intervention, and System Strengthening are the five major pillars around which the Social Protection idea is based.

Mr. Semiu Yusuf, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oladunjoye, Mrs. Mujibat Dabiri, and Mrs. Ayodele Fajemibolu are additional team members.
