Some residents in the Epe area of Lagos will face frequent power outages and have the supply for only an average of about four hours daily.

 

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) recently approved an increase in the electricity tariff, particularly for customers under Band A.

 

Customers under Band A are to enjoy 20–24 hours of electricity supply daily, while those under Band B are the ones who get a daily electricity supply of 16–20 hours; Band C is supplied with a minimum of 12–16 hours; Band D is supplied with a minimum of 8–12 hours; and Band E is supplied with a minimum of 4–8 hours.

 

According to the data, residents on the 11-EpelNJ-T1-LASU, 11-EpelNJ-T1-Township, and 11-EpelNJ-T1-Water Works feeders are on Band E and will face more than 1.7 power interruptions on average every day, with each lasting an average of one hour and forty-six minutes while the service voltage level is 11.

 

Residents on the 11-EpelNJ-T1-LASU feeder, according to the data, will experience an average of 1.72 power outages per day, lasting an average of one hour and 46 minutes each.

 

While the response time to calls regarding outages is prompt at zero hours, the average resolution time for complaints is 2.22 hours.

 

For the 11-EpelNJ-T1-Township feeder, residents will experience an average of 1.84 outages daily, also lasting roughly one hour and 47 minutes each.

 

However, the average response time to calls regarding outages is 509.14 hours, translating to over 21.2 days, while the average complaint resolution time is also concerning at 10.82 hours.

 

Whereas the 11-EpelNJ-T1-Water Works feeder shows similar trends, as there will be an average of 1.93 outages daily, lasting one hour and 46 minutes on average.

 

While the call response time is 11.35 hours, the data also shows that the complaint resolution time is 7.86 hours.
