Akinrodoye Samuel, often known as Coach Dreh, is a Nigerian athlete who raised awareness about mental health by swimming the 11.8 km Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

Last Saturday, the professional swimming coach set out to complete the task of traveling from Oworonshoki, Mainland to Adeniji Adenle, Island.

The CEO of Ocean 28 Swimming Academy, Coach Dreh, completed his incredible workout in 2 hours and 33 minutes of swimming.

Some of Dreh’s friends and coworkers were with him, encouraging him all the way.

Before the workout, Dreh remarked that his ten years of swimming experience could “help me do anything and become anything.”

In addition, he urged those struggling with mental health issues “to ask for help.”

In an effort to educate people about mental health, suicide, and depression, I want to swim the whole length of the Lagos Third Mainland Bridge. From Oworonshoki, the mainland, to Adeniji Adenle, the island, is 11.8 kilometers apart. I have more than ten years of experience in the water. Additionally, swimming allows me to become and accomplish anything I want,” he remarked.

I’m really passionate about the cause of mental health. Asking for aid is acceptable, in my opinion, especially when times are difficult. You can maintain a good outlook on life in the blink of an eye. Continue to live to see it.

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) backed the exercise.
