Managers of the Stanbic IBTC Pension Renovate the Yaba Psychiatric Hospital Ward

A noteworthy example of corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been the over N100 million donation made by Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, a division of Stanbic IBTC Holdings, towards the refurbishment of the Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital located in Yaba, Lagos State.

 

Along with medical staff offices and a patient activity space, the renovations included both male and female wards.

 

The initiative aims to improve the living conditions of patients at the renowned psychiatric facility and is a component of the company’s corporate social investment (CSI) program.The project’s completion was declared by the Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers management during a hand-over ceremony that took place yesterday in Lagos at the mental health facility’s location.

 

The entire renovation project, which cost N107.857 million, included the installation of hospital beds, fans, air conditioners, and sinks with soap dispensers; renovated kitchens with refrigerators and cooker units; toilet seats with sinks and soap dispensers; bathroom stalls with showers and water heaters; load cables; and remodeled nurses’ stations with swivel staff chairs, tables, and cabinet racks. Additionally, the hundreds of patients who visit these wards each year received bedside lockers.

 

In addition, two 40-inch LED LG TVs were installed and made available to patients for entertainment during their downtime.

 

Mr. Olumide Oyetan, Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to bettering the lives of people and community development during the handover event.

 

“As an organization that is committed to the long-term sustainability of Nigerians, we believe that investments in health must be frequent and sustained,” he stated. “Health is one of our three CSI pillars.”

 

“Knowing the suffering of people with mental health issues in our nation, we seized this chance to assist hospital administration in establishing a supportive atmosphere that will improve treatment and expedite the recovery of patients facing this difficulty.”

 

Additionally, Ms. Nike Bajomo, Executive Director of Business Development at Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, conveyed her appreciation to all collaborators and interested parties who helped make the initiative a success.

 

“We are very emotional today because it’s the realization of this dream that we pictured several months ago when we first started this project,” Bajoma stated.

 

We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who helped us along the way, especially our management team who believed in the idea, the hospital management who oversaw the implementation, the team that laid the groundwork, and of course all of our partners who are present today to celebrate this special occasion. Since Nigeria is our home and we are the ones that propel its development, we look forward to the thousands of people who will receive care in this hospital in the years to come and pledge to do more to promote Nigerians’ well-being.

 

Dr. Olugbenga Owoeye, the CMD of Federal Neuro Psychiatric institution, Yaba, responded by thanking Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers’ management for recognizing the institution and carrying out the project.

 

“I would like to express my profound appreciation and gratitude to the management and staff of Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers for the renovation of Female Ward 3 and Male Ward 3, which consist of 40 beds each,” stated Owoeye on behalf of the personnel and administration of this great mental health institution.
