Armed military personnel stormed the headquarters of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) in Lagos on Thursday morning, allegedly in retaliation for the disconnection of electricity to the Ikeja Air Force Base over unpaid bills.
The incident occurred at about 7:40 a.m. at the company’s office, located opposite MITV in Ikeja. Witnesses reported that the soldiers, dressed in military uniform, forcefully entered the premises, assaulting staff members and other individuals present at the time.
According to eyewitness accounts, the officers blocked the road, restricting movement around the area, while workers at the electricity distribution company were reportedly held against their will.
A source at the scene said, “The Air Force blocked the road, denying citizens their right to movement. They invaded Ikeja Electric and held workers against their will.”
The reported assault has sparked outrage, with many condemning the military’s actions as excessive and unlawful.
As of the time of this report, neither the Nigerian Air Force nor Ikeja Electric has issued an official statement regarding the incident.
