Lagos State Government has expressed its desire to further give support to Lagos Island Connect (LIC) for organising a Business Fair at the Local Government Level.

The Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Dr. (Mrs.) Lola Akande stated this while welcoming the Executives of LIC, led by its President, Miss. Yemisi Ransome-Kuti to the Ministry on Friday.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Adetutu Ososanya, FCA, Akande stated that the business fair created an opportunity for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to showcase their indigenous products thereby promoting the State’s economy, in line with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of transforming and positioning the State for the 21st-Century Economy.

Her words: “During the Lagos Island Business (LIBIZ) Fair, I observed that most of the participants who featured, came to display indigenous products and this gladdened my heart, as I also patronised them. I must commend you for the training in Business Education and Networking provided to MSMEs during Business Clinics at the Fair”.

Akande reiterated that the Ministry will make efforts to step up plans in the area of publicity and also reach out to the appropriate quarters to bring concerned stakeholders on board”, she said.

The Commissioner promised that the Ministry will work together with the Team to ensure the success of subsequent Fairs organised by Lagos Island Connect.

The President of LIC, Miss Yemisi Ransome-Kuti, confirmed that the Business Fair received great support from both the State Government and other stakeholders who contributed immensely to its success and expressed her appreciation to the Sanwo-Olu administration for the encouragement.

“We enjoyed support from the State Government and our Development Partners such as Germans GIZ-NGC and the Republic of Netherlands. We hope this will be extended to other programmes lined up and targeted at the youths in the Local Government Areas to bring them on board to identify the businesses that have already been supported and make efforts to strengthen the ones that are still struggling and help set them up appropriately”, she said.
