The National Examinations Council (NECO) has digitalized the hiring process for supervisors and assistant supervisors for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal and External in order to prevent outside interference and unethical behaviour.
According to LEADERSHIP results, in order to guarantee a reliable examination, the council has chosen to offer an even playing field for those who wish to be chosen for the assignments.
“The digitalization is to check sharp practices in the recruitment process and to enhance efficiency and effective service delivery,” according to a statement signed Wednesday by Azeez Sani, interim head of information and digital communication.
According to him, the process of digitization entails switching from a manual to an online system for hiring supervisors and assistant supervisors. This will guarantee that the supervisors’ appointment letters, nomination forms, and electronic picture albums are created online.
Sani further mentioned that throughout the test, supervisors and assistant supervisors would alternate on an online basis.
Thus, he declared that interested and qualified educators may apply to be supervisors or assistant supervisors for BECE or SSCE internal or external examinations. These educators must hold an NCE, a master’s degree, a PhD, or be professors.
The statement noted that the council conducted manual hiring of supervisors and assistant supervisors prior to the implementation of the digitalization system, and that this innovation would further increase the credibility of the NECO test.
