The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has cautioned Nigerians against making modifications to their National Identification Number (NIN) data on unauthorized websites.
In a statement released on Monday, the Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, emphasized that any changes to NIN data should only be made through the official NIMC self-service portal.
He warned that using unauthorized platforms could expose individuals to identity theft and compromise their personal information.
“By using the self-service portal, individuals can also enjoy the convenience of updating their information from anywhere, at any time,” Adegoke stated.
He urged Nigerians to avoid unofficial channels and ensure all NIN modifications are done through the designated portal to protect their data and prevent security risks.
