The Super Falcons have received congratulations from the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) for earning a spot in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Gumel made this claim in a statement made yesterday in Abuja by Tony Nezianya, the NOC’s public relations officer.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Super Falcons were commended by NOC President Habu Gumel for their exceptional accomplishment in earning a spot in the competition.
He declared that the Falcons’ performance was absolutely remarkable, especially their 1-0 triumph over the Bayana Bayana, their South African rivals, in Abuja.
“We at the NOC are extremely happy to commemorate this outstanding achievement.”Under the direction of NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, the Falcons’ tenacity and abilities proved their extraordinary potential and commitment.
Furthermore, they qualified for one of the two coveted spots allotted for Africa in the Olympic female soccer competition thanks to the goalless draw during the return leg in Pretoria, South Africa.
“Under Gusau’s capable leadership, the team’s collective hard work, resiliency, and perseverance have resulted in this remarkable achievement.”

He remarked, “We are confident that the Falcons, under your leadership, will continue to shine and make our country proud as we look forward to the Olympic Games.”
He added it was important to remember that the national team overcame a 16-year-old curse, having not qualified for the Olympics since the 2008 Beijing Games.

At least fifty athletes have already qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Football, Female 22, Taekwondo 1, Boxing 3, Canoeing 2, Cycling 1, Athletics 5, Basketball 12, Taekwondo 1, and Wrestling 6 are among them.
NAN claims that weightlifting could have at least two spots when their most recent rankings are announced in May, while the Nigerian boxing team could qualify more boxers if they attend Olympic qualifications in Thailand.
