Renowned gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey has weighed in on the ongoing debate on social media about rejecting potential life partners who are unfamiliar with gospel musicians like himself. He urged Christians to avoid turning their passion for gospel music into an unhealthy obsession.
Taking to Twitter, Bassey reminded believers that not knowing a particular gospel minister or artist does not diminish one’s faith.
“My dear Brothers and Sisters, you are blessed. Just a note of caution.
Please let’s be careful and guided so we don’t turn our passion to unholy obsession. Not knowing Nathaniel Bassey or any of the young vibrant servants of God being used does not make you any less a Christian” he wrote.
The gospel minister also advised against judging those who do not participate in the popular Hallelujah Challenge, emphasizing that faith is a personal journey.
“I do not see myself in that manner, and thinking otherwise would be considering myself more highly than I ought to. Also, not joining the Hallelujah Challenge does not make anyone less of a Christian. People are free to connect with what works best for them.”
Bassey noted that he usually refrains from commenting on such debates but felt the need to offer some clarity. He also announced the return of the Hallelujah Challenge after a brief break, inviting believers to come together in worship.
“No wahala! Only Hallelujah!” he concluded.
