Obi’s Campaign Director, Fagbenro-Byron dumps LP for APC in Lagos
The Director of Organization for Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, Dr. Sina Fagbenro-Byron, has dumped Peter Obi to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fagbenro-Byron was received into the ruling party by the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) member and apex leader of Mushin and Odi-Olowo Mandate Movement, Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon (GOS), at his Lagos residence on Tuesday.
Accompanied by his cousin, Barrister Femi Martins, the former Special Adviser to Lagos State governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dr. Fagbenro-Byron said his decision to leave Peter Obi to join the APC was a well thought-out one and borne out of “the culmination of extensive reflection, consultations and an unwavering commitment to ensuring a better society.”
He, however, averred that he was never a member of the Labour Party (LP) but worked for Peter Obi as his Director of Organization during the 2023 presidential elections.
Fagbenro-Bryon further maintained that, “the journey has been enriched by the support and encouragement from my people, family, friends, associates and colleagues in Lagos, the South West and other zones in Nigeria. Their desire to see me serve this nation is a driving force behind this decision. All politics is local and the APC, well-accepted and trusted in my locality, offers a platform that resonates with the vast majority of my immediate constituency.
“Between September 2022 and February 2023, I served as the Director of Organization for Peter Obi’s presidential campaign, despite not being a registered member of the Labour Party.”
Fagbenro-Byron reiterated that every political party in Nigeria needs to evolve for the betterment of our nation. He posited that while all political parties need help, he was of a strong belief that his contributions can be most impactful within the APC.
“Having being part of the developmental journey of Lagos State from Tinubu’s 10-point agenda to Fashola’s 25-year Megacity plan, to Ambode’s consideration for the larger South West, and now Sanwo-Olu’s progressive, value-added governance system, I see joining the APC as a continuation of my service to this noble cause, stated Dr. Fagbenro-Byron.
A member of the Palliative Committee in Lagos State, Dr. Sina Fagbenro-Byron has worked as a lawyer, teacher, administrator, international development professional and a consultant.
He was the presidential candidate of the now defunct KOWA party.
