Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen will not play in Nigeria’s forthcoming friendly against Mali and Ghana.

Osimhen’s fitness to play in the Super Eagles’ next friendly has been certified by Italian side Napoli.

Due to his fitness issues, the 25-year-old started Sunday’s Serie A match between Napoli and Inter Milan on the bench.

Osimhen has not been given the all-clear to play football and is not included in Napoli’s roster of players free to play for their country. This was confirmed by Napoli coach Francesco Calzona.

Calzona said to DAZN, “Osimhen has an inflammation of the scar from an old injury.”

In order to prevent exacerbating his ailment, the Serie A winners would not allow Osimhen to play in Nigeria’s forthcoming friendly.

The forward had only partially trained with his teammates during the week and had missed training sessions.

Osimhen’s ability to play in the game was first questioned because of a reopened injury.

The Super Eagles will play international friendlies in Morocco on March 22 and 26, respectively, against the Black Stars of Ghana and the Eagles of Mali.
