An international organization monitoring the movement of people in and out of the countries in the world, the United Nations Migration Agency, International Organisation for Migration (IOM) has disclosed that at least 1,000 Nigerians are currently in the United Kingdom wandering about.

According to the IOM’s Chief Mission, Laurent De Boech, the stranded Nigerian nationales wandering about the streets of the United were stranded because they either had no financial muscle to pay for their return ticket to Nigeria, or they were ashamed of returning home empty-handed.

Speaking further, Boech stated that the Nigerians Stranded in the UK are mostly those who fell victim to scams involving foreign job opportunities in the United Kingdom.

Speaking at a news conference yesterday in Abuja, Boech said “There are some of them who lost over $10,000 only to be given fake employment letters, which allowed them to get visas.”

“They get there, present the letters, and the organizations tell them that the letters did not emanate from the organizations. Over a thousand people are affected,” he stated.
