The management of Peter Okoye, one half of the now-defunct music group P-Square, has refuted allegations by his twin brother, Paul Okoye, that he is responsible for their elder brother Jude Okoye’s legal troubles.
Paul had earlier claimed that Peter’s actions led to Jude’s current predicament, following his arraignment over an alleged ₦1.38 billion fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Jude was remanded in custody by the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, pending his bail hearing in March.
During the court proceedings, Paul directly blamed Peter for Jude’s legal woes, stating, “This is not about taking sides. I know the truth, and the truth is that Peter is responsible for Jude’s situation. He is the one who put him in prison, and I am here to help get him out.”
In response, Peter, through his manager, Emem Kush, dismissed the claims, maintaining that he had no involvement in Jude’s legal troubles.
“Peter has nothing to say regarding this issue because he has no connection to it. The EFCC’s case is based on its own investigation into Jude Okoye. There is no link between Peter and this matter,” Emem clarified.
She further emphasized that Peter never lodged a petition against Jude personally, stating that the investigation was focused on a company handling financial transactions on his behalf.
“Peter did not report anyone to the EFCC. The case revolves around a company that received funds on his behalf, and he was unaware of any irregularities. Let’s not create unnecessary confusion,” she added.
When asked if there were any special conditions attached to the case, Emem reiterated that only the EFCC could provide accurate details on their findings.
The Okoye brothers have had a turbulent history, with their rift becoming public in 2015. While they briefly reunited in 2022 to release songs like Jaiye and Find Somebody, their reconciliation was short-lived. By August 2024, Paul confirmed during a radio interview that they had once again parted ways.
During that same interview, Paul accused Peter of reporting both him and Jude to the EFCC, leading to their questioning by the anti-graft agency.
However, Peter denied the accusations, insisting that his petition was aimed at exposing what he described as a betrayal by Jude and his wife, Ifeoma.
