Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Friday, attended the unveiling of the ‘Peace in South East Project’ in Abia State.

The project is an initiative aimed at addressing insecurity and related issues in the South East.

Shettima disclosed this via his Facebook page in the late hours of Friday.

The event was anchored by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.

Shettima, before the unveiling, had received a traditional title of Omeziri Igbo 1, conferred on President Bola Tinubu by the Chairman of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Linus Mbah, at a grand reception held in honour of the Deputy Speaker.

Shettima’s statement read, “Earlier today in Bende, Abia State, I attended the unveiling of the Peace in South East Project (PISE-P) – an initiative aimed at addressing insecurity and related issues in South East Nigeria, and anchored by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu.

“The President has been worried about the economic devastation inflicted on the Southeast geopolitical zone by non-state actors since he assumed office and is determined to deploy all available resources to eliminate the purveyors of falsehoods and propaganda that have become weapons against Nigeria’s unity.

“I was accompanied by dignitaries including Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Gilbert Onyekachukwu Ibezim; Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.”
