The Ogun State Police Command has declared popular controversial muscian Habeeb Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, wanted for allegedly leading a violent attack on government officials performing their duties.

In a statement on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, detailed that the incident occurred on February 5, 2025, at around 10:00 a.m. when officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development’s Ota Zonal Office were conducting an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota. The affected officials, identified as TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi, visited Odogwu Bar, a property linked to Portable, where they encountered an elderly man, later identified as the singer’s father.

After the officials introduced themselves and requested the building’s approved plan, Portable’s father informed them that his son was unavailable. However, shortly after, Portable allegedly arrived with a group of nine armed thugs and launched an attack on the unarmed officials. The victims sustained injuries but managed to escape and report the incident to the Ota Area Command, leading to an escalation of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

While nine of the singer’s alleged accomplices were arrested, Portable reportedly fled the scene and has remained in hiding. Odutola stated that the police had sent multiple formal invitations to Portable, requesting his presence at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters in Abeokuta, but he repeatedly ignored them without legal representation.

“Following his continued refusal to cooperate, the Ogun State Police Command has obtained a valid court order declaring him wanted,” the statement read.

The police urged the public to assist in locating the singer, warning that anyone found aiding or harboring him would face legal consequences. Citizens with relevant information were encouraged to report to the nearest police station or contact the command through official channels.

This development follows the recent arraignment of nine of Portable’s associates at a Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, for allegedly assaulting officials of the Ota Zonal Planning Office.

The defendants are Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26) who were all charged with felony, assault, unlawful restriction, possession of weapons, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

According to police prosecutor, Sunday Ekong; the defendants alongside Portable, unlawfully assaulted the government officials while obstructing them from carrying out their duties. The charges were filed under Sections 516, 356(3), 80, 249(d), and 320 of the Ogun State Criminal Code Laws, 2006.

Presiding over the case, Magistrate O.M. Somefun granted each defendant bail set at ₦5 million, with sureties registered as licensed bondsmen under the Ogun State Government. The case was adjourned to March 17, 2025, for further hearing.
