Sanwo-Olu Reaffirms Commitment to Women’s Empowerment at International Women’s Day Event

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to women’s empowerment and gender inclusiveness, emphasizing the importance of deliberate policies and actions to uplift women across various sectors.

Speaking at the 2025 International Women’s Day celebration held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, the governor assured the women of Lagos that his government would continue to create opportunities that ensure their voices are heard and their contributions recognized.

 

“Our commitment to fostering inclusiveness and achieving gender equality for the progress and development of Lagos State, which is in line with our THEMES+ agenda, is unwavering,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

Highlighting this year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” he stressed the need to move beyond words and take decisive steps toward gender equality by addressing the barriers that hinder women’s advancement.

“In Lagos State, we don’t just say it; we are actively implementing it through policies that empower women across all sectors,” he affirmed. He pointed to various government initiatives aimed at promoting self-sufficiency, leadership, and economic participation among women.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also called on men to actively support gender equality, stating that true progress requires collective action. “Sustainable change can only happen when men and women work together in harmony,” he said.

Reaffirming his administration’s dedication, he pledged to continue implementing policies that foster inclusiveness and address gender disparities, ensuring sustainable development for Lagos State.
