Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, has alleged that she has been deprived of several privileges since her clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Speaking on Brekete Family, a human rights radio and television program in Abuja, Akpoti-Uduaghan revealed that she has been excluded from multiple international engagements, including a United Nations event for which she was nominated.
Her comments come a day after a tense exchange in the Senate chamber when she refused to sit in a reassigned seat, leading to a heated confrontation with the Senate President.
“I have been going through a lot, and I have remained silent to avoid misinterpretation or legal battles,” she said. “I just want to be allowed to work. Many of my privileges have been stripped, and I have been removed from several international activities since the nightclub incident last year. I have had to self-fund all my trips ever since.”
Her claims have ignited a debate online, with two opposing views emerging. While some argue that she disrupted Senate proceedings and caused unnecessary commotion, others believe her ordeal is part of a broader attempt to silence women in Nigerian politics.
