Nigerian Singer Alexander Adelabu, better known by his stage name Magixx, has been candid about the difficulties he had growing up.
The Mavin Records signee revealed in a conversation with Chude Jideonwo that he feels pressure from his hectic schedule as an artist and from meeting public expectations.
He bemoaned the fact that societal norms prevented him from wearing the same clothes twice.
“Every great person has a path to their destiny,” stated Magixx. And as I worked out the route, I discovered that you have to go through here. In addition to addressing public obligations, I was juggling family matters, embracing where I was, and improving myself.
It’s quite a bit. You are still going to be the songwriter, the one to answer calls from your family, and the one who will appear in video calls. You are still the same person who travels outside of Lagos every weekend to play for crowds and who has a romantic interest. Even though it’s a lot, nobody seems to know. People are unaware of my inability to wear the same clothes twice. For example, the attire I’m wearing on social media today is the last one you will see me in. I have to consider what to dress every day. Those are not things that average people consider.
Artists are under a lot of pressure, yet outsiders are blind to this.
