SPECIAL DUTIES MINISTRY COMMENDS FRSC SECTOR COMMANDER

The Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations has commended the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for its efforts in improving road safety in Lagos State. This commendation was given during a courtesy visit by the FRSC team to the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations recently, where discussions centred on potential collaborations to improve driving culture, road safety and public education in the State.

Welcoming the team to the Ministry, Mr. Olugbenga Oyerinde, Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, praised the FRSC leadership for its tireless efforts in ensuring the safety of lives and properties on Lagos roads. He highlighted the Corp’s effective emergency response strategies and public education campaigns, noting that they have significantly reduced road accidents and promoted a culture of road safety.

According to Mr. Oyerinde, the strategic collaboration between FRSC and LASTMA, the State’s Agency for traffic control, has proven to ensure that roads in the State are free of traffic gridlocks. He also applauded the Sector Commander for his commitment and leadership style in ensuring the prompt processing of car licensing documentation.

He said that the Ministry is eager to collaborate with the FRSC to leverage its expertise and knowledge in addressing emergency road safety issues. This partnership aims to reduce emergency response times and ultimately save lives.

He expressed appreciation for the FRSC’s dedication to its mandate and its commitment to collaborate with other stakeholders to achieve its goals. The Ministry noted that it looks forward to supporting and partnering with the FRSC to promote road safety and reduce the incidences of road accidents in Lagos State”.

Sector Commander Kehinde Gannu Hamzat emphasised the importance of public education and enlightenment programmes on road culture. He also highlighted the new seamless processes for licensing registration for drivers in the state ensuring residents of efficient service.

The Ministry leadership pledged its commitment to effective collaborations and assured the visitors of continuous engagements to further deepen intergovernmental relations. This hopes to bring state and federal government agencies together to ensure the safety of the lives and properties of all residents in the State.
