Thre’s no limit to how far I’m willing to take this sh!t.

Tayo Aina’s journey from an Uber driver in Lagos to becoming one of Africa’s most influential YouTubers is truly remarkable. With a subscriber base of approximately 700,000, his impact extends far beyond the boundaries of Nigeria. Through his videos, Tayo showcases the beauty of African landmarks and real estate listings in Lagos, capturing the essence of the city and shedding light on its hidden gems.

However, Tayo’s passion for storytelling doesn’t stop at his own backyard. He has embarked on extensive travels across the continent, seeking out untold stories and often forgotten communities. By utilizing nuanced visual storytelling techniques, he dispels long-held stereotypes perpetuated by Western media about Africa. In doing so, Tayo challenges the narrative by highlighting the diverse cultures, vibrant communities, and incredible achievements on the African continent.

For Tayo, his work allows him the freedom to explore different places and interact with people from diverse backgrounds. The impact he makes through his videos resonates deeply with audiences around the world. His flexible job enables him to tell captivating stories about extraordinary individuals and captivating places, inspiring and connecting with a global community.

Recognizing the scarcity of coverage documenting the true essence of Africa, Tayo acknowledged the need to fill this void. Western media often focuses solely on negative aspects, which motivated him to showcase the positive side of the continent. By creating content that highlights the rich tapestry of African stories, people, culture, and lifestyle, Tayo aims to counterbalance the prevailing narratives and bring much-needed positivity into the world.

Nevertheless, being a travel creator based in Nigeria presents its own set of challenges. Tayo often encounters limitations due to the constraints of his Nigerian passport, facing restrictions in accessing several countries. Additionally, the high cost of traveling within Africa creates financial hurdles. Despite these obstacles, Tayo remains determined to overcome them, driven by his vision of building a recognized platform that promotes positivity across Africa and worldwide.

Venturing beyond Nigeria, Tayo recently embarked on a tour that took him across the globe, from the United Kingdom and the United States of America to Greece, Athens, Malta, and more. This tour marked Tayo as the first travel creator to undertake such an expansive journey, capturing the attention and hearts of viewers from all walks of life. During his travels, Tayo collaborated with prominent African personalities like Davido and Adekunle Gold, sharing their success stories through visually captivating videos. One notable interview occurred with Jackie Aina, a fellow YouTuber, where they delved into her experiences and perspectives in the entertainment industry. This series of videos was aptly named “Made in Africa,” encapsulating the essence of celebrating African talent and accomplishments.

Looking ahead, Tayo’s long-term ambitions extend beyond his YouTube channel. His ultimate goal is to establish a large-scale platform that not only spreads positivity but also inspires others to pursue their dreams and create their own platforms. He aspires to build brands and media companies off this platform, aiming to leave a lasting legacy that fosters inspiration, empowerment, and change within Africa, and ultimately, throughout the world.
