Michael Ajimati’s artistic journey began long before he entered the University of Lagos. Growing up, he was deeply involved in various aspects of the arts in his community, engaging in activities like acting, dancing, and drumming. These early experiences, combined with a strong passion for the arts, laid a solid foundation for what would become his career.
One production that had a profound impact on Ajimati was Imagination T.V. This production allowed him to explore new creative territories, both as a performer and as a storyteller. It challenged his understanding of the role of media in shaping perceptions and narratives, and the experience broadened his approach to theatre in general.
Ajimati’s international exposure has played a major role in shaping his artistic journey. He has collaborated with Kininso Koncept Productions, which collaborated with D’Haus Junges Schauspiel in Germany. During this collaboration, he performed Imagination T.V. (2018), a piece that truly opened his eyes to the global possibilities of theatre.
Micheal Ajimati has worked with some of the most respected theatre companies in Nigeria. One of the highlights was assisting in the production and co-direction of a play for the British Council/UKAID’s Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Program, which toured ten Nigerian states to address critical societal issues.
