Nigerian rapper and singer, Skales has responded to the contentious assertion made by Afrobeats artist Wizkid that “hip-hop is dead.”

“Everyone has their opinion,” Skales stated in an interview with Hip TV. [‘Hip-hop is dead’] is Wizkid’s perspective because he has his own. However, I approach life with the belief that everything has a specific time and season.

You might not be hot tomorrow if you are hot today because everything will come and go and there will be another recycle. If everyone is into rap right now, tomorrow it will be Afrobeats, the next day it will be Amapiano, and so on.

So I won’t declare hip-hop to be extinct. Something is not dead; it’s simply not the right time. The excitement has shifted to another location. They will definitely declare Afrobeats to be extinct very soon. It’s all a matter of time. Nothing is intended to last indefinitely. We all perish because of this one day.
