Tinuade Sanda is no longer the managing director of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC).
This was verified in a formal statement that the DisCo chairman, Dere Otubu, signed and provided to reporters on Tuesday.
The letter was sent especially to Sanda and was headlined Implementation of NERC order on seconded workers. It was dated March 21, 2024.
It described the National Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (NERC) mandate to EKEDC, directing it to guarantee that every employee is directly hired by the company and bound by its service terms.
The letter further stated that the payroll system of the utility must be used to pay the employees. In the letter, Otubu reaffirmed that EKEDC was forced by NERC’s jurisdiction under the Electricity Act of 2023 to comply with this direction.
“All seconded staff of WPG Ltd are being released by EKEDC and returned to WPG Ltd in compliance with the above directive,” the letter said.
“With immediate effect, you are hereby relieved of your role, office, and position at EKEDC and returned to your employer, WPG Ltd.”
Sanda was also instructed to turn over control to the EKEDC employees who report to her at the highest level.
“As a WPG seconded staff member, we hereby record our appreciation of your invaluable services and contribution to the growth and success achieved by EKEDC over the years,” the message continued.
