President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the government and people of Enugu State following a fuel tanker explosion on Saturday that resulted in multiple casualties.

The tragic incident occurred at the Ugwu-Onyeama section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway when a tanker lost control and ignited, claiming lives and leaving many injured.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commiserated with the affected families and prayed for the swift recovery of those hospitalized.

The president expressed concern over the frequent tanker explosions in the country, referencing a similar tragedy in Niger State that claimed over 80 lives just days prior.

He called on road users, particularly tanker operators, to prioritize safety while urging traffic enforcement agencies to adopt stronger measures to prevent future incidents.
