With the theme “Collaboration and Networking: The Path to Artisanal Growth and Development,” the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, has reiterated its commitment to continuously support the informal sector as they celebrate their 14th Tradesmen and Artisans Day on Wednesday at De Blue Roof, LTVCompound, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.

The Commissioner for Establishment and Pensions, Mr. Afolabi Omotayo, on behalf of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, praised the artisans and tradesmen of Lagos State, pointing out that their abilities, inventiveness, and commitment are, in fact, the foundation of the State’s economy.

“We shall continue to invest in Vocational training programmes and modern equipment that will empower Artisans with modern techniques, business acumen, and necessary digital skills to compete in the digital economy,” stated Sanwo-Olu, the head of his administration, in reference to the need for capacity building and skills development for Lagos’ artisans and tradesmen.

The Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, had earlier highlighted in his welcome address that numerous creative programmes had been put into place since the start of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration.

As the Commissioner thanked Mr. Governor for the funds and for ensuring that the Ministry received everything it needed on schedule, he also urged the Artisans to keep improving and refining their skills in accordance with international best practices.
