UN Teaches Sustainability Journalism To Aso Rock Reporters

The United Nations Information Center (UNIC) has arranged a capacity-building course on solutions and sustainability journalism for journalists covering the presidential palace in Nigeria.

 

According to UNIC, the State House Correspondents’ training is a component of the UN agenda to give media professionals the know-how and abilities to support the advancement and long-term preservation of society.

 

The Lagos State government also provided assistance for the workshop, which had as its theme “Promoting Solutions-Oriented and Sustainability Journalism in a Modern Democracy.”

 

The director-general of the International Press Center, Lanre Arogundade, Andrea Cairola of the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, Kingsley Uranga, general manager of Channels Academy, Ambassador Ahmed Rufai, director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), who was represented by Wale Adekoya, director, Lagos Liaison, were among the resource persons who gave presentations at the workshop.

 

The resource persons underscored the significance of journalists maintaining the proper balance between objectivity and development journalism in the course of their work.

 

In his previous welcome address, Dr. Anule Emmanuel, the chairman of the SHPC, stated that the organization is still dedicated, accountable, and composed of professional journalists that have a great faith in Nigeria.

 

We hope that Nigeria will function, and we report from the State House with a strong sense of nationalism and national security,” Anule stated.

 

For making the training feasible, he so praised UNIC and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
