The Lagos State Government is dedicated to putting sufficient safeguards in place to guarantee that locals and visitors enjoy a fun-filled, safe, and unforgettable Christmas and New Year’s celebration.

This was stated in a statement that was jointly signed on Friday by Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the general manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), and Mr. Lanre Mojola, the director-general of the Lagos State Safety Commission.

The statement informed the public that the Commission, in collaboration with LASEPA, will be conducting cooperative monitoring and enforcement operations throughout the State, particularly at social centres such as bars and lounges, event centres, nightclubs, parks, gardens, and children’s play areas, among other locations with high pedestrian traffic, in an effort to facilitate a hazard and accident-free Yuletide and ensure strict compliance with existing safety and environment laws, regulations, and guidelines.

Additionally, it was disclosed that the two organisations had started an advocacy campaign for safety and the environment called “Socialise Responsibly,” which aims to encourage moderation and safety during the holiday season. Among other issues, this advocacy would centre on noise pollution, fire safety, and crowding.

As such, the public is urged to report any safety and/or environmental violations seen during the celebrations to the aforementioned agencies by calling 07000SAFETY for the Safety Commission and 07046351295 for LASEPA.
